JON B. PLATT was a producer of Angels in America: MillenniumApproaches and Perestroika, winner of seven Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize. Jon won his third Best Play Tony Award for Copenhagen, his fourth for God of Carnage and his most recent for The Book of Mormon, winner of 9 Tony Awards. In addition to being nominated for 14 Tony Awards and winning 5, Jon has received 8 Drama Desk Awards and 6 New York Outer Critics Circle Awards.
Jon is represented by Broadway's reigning champion WICKED which continues to sell out in its 9th record-breaking year at the Gershwin Theatre. Jon's recent Broadway credits include The Motherf**cker with the Hat, The House of Blue Leaves, Driving Miss Daisy, A View From The Bridge, Exit The King, and Cyrano de Bergerac.
This season Jon is represented by WICKED, Venus In Fur, Death of a Salesman, Clybourne Park, An Evening with Patti Lupone and Mandy Patinkin, The Book of Mormon, and The Gershwin's Nice Work If You Can Get It.
Jon's West End roster has included WICKED - now in its 6th year, The Children's Hour, and Driving Miss Daisy.
Jon is credited for showing 3 identically painted men that there is indeed life above 14th Street - thus the first installation outside of New York of the international sensation Blue Man Group - now in its 17th year playing Boston's Charles Playhouse was born.
Jon enjoys restoring historic theatres and homes. He most recently collaborated with architect Frank O. Gehry restoring Schnabel House in Los Angeles, deemed by Living Architecture as one of the "20 Greatest American Houses of the 20th Century."
Recently Jon, along with Halle Berry and Tiffany's, hosted a gala at Schnabel House to benefit Ms. Berry's Genessee House for victims of domestic abuse. Jon raises funds for numerous not for profit organizations including the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Association who honored him with a special award "in gratitude for creating the opportunities which are enriching our children's lives."
