Course Details

A huge part of the budget for any Broadway show will be spent on its physical production. A good producer has to understand the main issues that arise in creating and loading in the sets, costumes, lighting, and sound design that will define a production.

In this two-day course, we’ll pay a visit to Hudson Scenic to see the building process, followed by a backstage tour of On Your Feet!, where we’ll learn how scenery is moved and stored and how lights and sound fit together to complete the show. Our final trip will be a visit to PRG, the leading supplier of lighting and sound equipment to Broadway. We’ll also hear from designers about their process in creating the “look” of the show, from shop professionals who make that “look” become reality and from a technical director about how all the moving pieces are put together.

Speakers will include:
Sally Campbell Morse (The Dodgers, General Management, A Bronx Tale, Jersey Boys, Matilda)
John Lee Beatty (Scenic Design, The Heidi Chronicles, Disgraced, After Midnight)
Ben Heller (Aurora Productions, Production Management, Book of Mormon, The Glass Menagerie, Groundhog Day)

Enrollment is strictly limited to 30 participants!

If enrolling at the student rate, you must verify your student status via email from a school (.edu) account.
