Course Details

Funding a production is one of the producer’s key jobs. Equally important is to make each investment a positive experience so that your investors and co-producing partners will want to work with you again. This one-day seminar will take you through the process of finding co-producers, creating the materials you need to convince them to join your project, and producing the events that will get investors interested. After you’ve raised your money, good relationships with your investors will depend on keeping them feeling connected to you and your production and excited about the investment they’ve made.

Topics and speakers will include “Finding and Cultivating Investors” with Tom Smedes (Bandstand; Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812), “Care and Feeding of Investors” presented by Steve Baruch (Hairspray, The Producers), “Example of Professional Pitches” conducted by Aaron Glick (War Paint, Fully Committed), Eva Price (Dear Evan Hansen, On Your Feet!), & Bradley Reynolds (Something Rotten!, It’s Only a Play), and “What to Give Your Investors” presented by Tom Viertel (The Encounter, A Little Night Music).

Following the presentations you’ll have the opportunity to practice your pitch on CTI Executive Director Tom Viertel, who will act as your “prospective investor”. This course will equip you to make your pitch, answer questions, and keep your show moving forward.

If you would like to pitch, please email the CTI Gmail to be added to the list. Each person will be given 5 minutes to pitch followed by 5 minutes of feedback. We’ll fit in as many people as we can in the allotted time. The opportunity to pitch will be given on a first come, first served basis.
